MEN BEHIND THE SCENES

| Marlo Ibanez |

Mark Rhine
Hailing from the Pacific-Northwest, Mark attributes much of the way he conducts business and approaches work to the lessons he learned from his father and his education. As one with never-ending ideas and ambitions, Mark’s father instilled in his son the drive to achieve success. Watching his father’s business endeavors, Mark learned the necessity of setting goals, to research and plan, patience, and the importance of experience and education. Mark learned from a young age that it takes a lot more than a good idea to make something work; there must be pedantic method behind the action.

Mark is always striving for knowledge, happiness, and success. He graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics. This mix of economic theory and business acumen would provide him with a foundation that aided him in his professional ventures.

Mark has had extensive experience in being a part of and owning a business. After completion of college, he and his family owned a tavern. This experience would provide Mark with first-hand knowledge of business ownership and conduct and the unfortunate but very real knowledge of business failure. Through this experience, he learned the importance of keeping work and home separate and the role objectivity plays in business success. He then worked in the automobile industry where he enhanced his knowledge in the art of sales while acquiring contractual and financial practices. After several successful years in the industry and craving a new challenge, he took the knowledge he gained and embarked into a new field: telecommunications.

Mark has worked for several companies in this field. In over 15 years of experience in video, voice and data, installation, service, and construction, he has gained knowledge of the demand for the services, proper implementation, and how the business works for employees, contractors, customers, and vendors. Through his wide range of experience, he has found that technology changes every nine to ten months. Because of these incredibly rapid changes, he believes in providing “future proofing” services. While providing a client with the technology of the day, he believes in installing services that have the capacity to change with new technologies by serving as a “system integrator.” This future proofing goes very much in line with his approach to business.

What Mark offers is something different than many other businesses. He believes in a clear, honest approach to business. He enacts this philosophy not only with his clients, but with his employees as well. He believes relationships are built on trust where clear, cut and dry expectations and goals are communicated. His direct approach to business has served him well in establishing long-lasting relationships with vendors such as Qwest and have lead to the diversification of Rhibacom.

Marlo Ibanez

Marlo Ibanez exudes determination and vision through meticulous planning and thought. His perspective on life and business derives from his father’s life experiences while working as a migrant farm laborer under the Bracero Program of 1942. Growing tiresome of the never-ending commutes, Marlo’s father applied for and received his green card and brought Marlo’s mother to California. There, they lived in the most modest of conditions of a 12’x12’ space, but with planning and hard work, bit by bit, the family improved their quality of life. Growing up in this physical environment and learning from his father the importance of hard work, motivation, and goal-setting, Marlo approaches his professional endeavors with scrupulous examination, planning, and constant reassessment to ensure he successfully progresses towards his goals.

Marlo has over 20 years in the telecommunications business. After focusing on architecture in technical school, he started his career in cable television in 1988. Marlo’s work experience has ranged from construction and installation to operations and management. His professional affiliations include the National Cable Television Institute (NCTI), the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), and the Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA). His reason for choosing this career path is his insatiable thirst for knowledge of new technologies. Since technology is continually changing, he enjoys what he does because it presents a constant need for attention and acquisition.

Marlo believes in creating a work environment that fosters personal and professional growth while encouraging employees to work as a team to achieve goals. He believes an optimal work culture is comprised of motivated, honest, and trustworthy visionaries who are able to align their personal goals with those of the company. Marlo attributes a high value to building strong relationships with employees and vendors, naming this a pivotal factor in professional success. Marlo emphasizes individuals working together in teams to accomplish goals versus disparate departments working in different directions for one company. This focus on team action strengthens the drive behind the goals set forth by the company by instilling purpose and ownership within the individual. He is also bilingual in English and Spanish, aiding in his mission to create a diverse, inclusive work environment. Marlo’s continual drive to learn, improve, and enjoy what he does greatly influence the culture of Rhibacom.
