BEHIND THE SCENES
The story of RhibaCom is one of humble origins inspired by vision, dedication, creativity, and boundless aspiration for something better. It all started on the back of a sushi menu in 2000 when Marlo Ibanez and Mark Rhine were brainstorming the creation of a small company, RhinoCom, to acquire a contractor’s license. Disenchanted with corporate mentality and yearning for new challenges that would promote their personal and professional growth, the visionaries realized that they possessed the skills and drive to achieve something more than a mere contractor’s license and continued to sketch a dream that would soon manifest into a very genuine, successful reality. RhibaCom was born.
The name RhibaCom and the RhibaCom logo illustrate the relationship between Marlo and Mark and thus the essence of the company. “Rhiba” is the convergence of the two partners’ names: “Rhine” and “Ibanez,” symbolic of the mutual respect and trust shared between the two colleagues. “Com” was placed at the end because they had both met through and come from a telecommunications background and initially, it was in this field that the business would reside. The logo is comprised of a rhino and the yin-yang sign. These emblems were specifically chosen to signify the relationship between Marlo and Mark as balanced, where strengths of one are complemented by the strengths of the other, creating a harmonious and whole result. The rhino is an allusion to the creation of the company, serving as a reminder to the modest origins of the company and its creators and as a lasting symbol of motivation, drive, and innovation. The RhibaCom name and logo communicate the identity of the company: we are a company that believes in passion, vision, trust, and the interminable drive to surpass our own expectations.
This minority-owned company is now in its eighth year of growth. Throughout this time, many lessons have been learned, numerous expectations exceeded, and opportunities for improvement scrutinized. RhibaCom grew from a small broadband contracting company of two employees working out of Mark’s guest room in Arizona to one of seventy employees spanning Arizona, Colorado, Washington, and Nebraska and expanding from broadband services to photography, organic farming, and health supplements. Mark and Marlo quickly learned the importance of a solid foundation, honing each other’s and their employees’ strengths to most effectively execute a successful business, and the necessity of effective management. Marlo and Mark have come to truly believe that the key to a successful business is hiring people who align their own goals with those of the company and by focusing on the strengths of employees to optimize their (the employees’) growth and experience in the company.
RhibaCom will continue to hold this mentality as it grows and diversifies its services and products. Diversification is a goal of the company.RhibaCom has just branched out into the organic health industry with RhibaFarms and Energy Source. Soon, RhibaCom will execute its photography endeavor, Pfusion. While the company grows, Marlo and Mark emphasize the importance of growing smartly. While many associate growth with numbers of employees, locations, etc., these two hold a different perspective where growth is defined as diversification of services while maintaining effective management and the original, close-to-home mentality that RhinoCom started with. Marlo and Mark never want to lose sight that there are people behind every company, and the relationship among the people is what directly impacts the quality of the product and services delivered. Powered by vision, creativity, drive, and positive relationships, RhibaCom will continue to grow and learn while striving to provide the best quality of products and services to date.
